Cleaner Environment
Batteries that are dumped, burned or broken apart informally can release hazardous substances into soil, water and air. Responsible recycling aims to keep them out of the environment.
SUSTAINABILITY
BATRECY is being developed around the principles of circularity, responsible resource recovery and safe end-of-life battery management.
OUR OBJECTIVES
Batteries that are dumped, burned or broken apart informally can release hazardous substances into soil, water and air. Responsible recycling aims to keep them out of the environment.
Recovering lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese and copper locally can reduce reliance on imports and help create a domestic supply of critical materials.
Collection, testing, processing and engineering can create skilled, safe employment in a growing clean-technology sector.
A domestic circular battery industry can support the national energy transition, industrial growth and climate goals.
SECOND LIFE FIRST
Recycling is not the first option. We plan to follow a simple order of priority to extract the greatest value from every battery.
Batteries that pass safety and suitability assessment may go back into service in their original role.
Batteries with reduced capacity may find a second life in less demanding uses such as stationary storage, once assessed as safe and suitable.
At true end of life, batteries are dismantled and processed safely.
Materials are refined and returned to industry, closing the loop.
